Whether your pet is in need of a routine wellness exam or a more involved procedure, you can rest assured that our skilled and compassionate team is here to help and that your pet is in good hands.
One of the many services we have to offer is that of vaccinations and immunizations for dogs and cats. We can perform these right here in our office and generally take care of them at the end of your pet's wellness exam.
Why Up-to-Date Vaccinations Matter
Keeping your pet up-to-date on all vaccinations and immunizations is vital not only to your pet's health, but to the health and safety of other animals and humans alike. In some cases, certain vaccinations may even be required by law or required in order to use a service. For example, if you wish to bring your dog to a local dog park, there is a good chance you will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccines in order to be admitted. Many boarding and grooming facilities also require proof of updated vaccinations for dogs and cats alike.
If you have a dog, there are a number of potential dog vaccinations we may recommend depending on your dog's age and risk factors. The most common is that of a rabies vaccine, which is generally administered every one to three years (depending on the specific vaccine used). We also recommend vaccinating against:
- dog flu H3N2 and H3N8
- bordetella (kennel cough)
- Lyme Disease
If you have a cat, there are other cat vaccinations and immunizations that may be recommended based on your pet's age, weight, and environment (whether your cat is indoor or outdoor). Some of the more common vaccines we recommend and administer to cats in our office include:
- dog flu
- panleukopenia virus
- feline leukemia (if your cat has tested negative)
- feline infectious peritonitis
- chlamydiosis (common in multiple-cat households)
