Doerr Animal Clinic is proud to serve the Louisville KY area for everything pet related. Our veterinary clinic and animal hospital is run by Pat Turns, who is a licensed, experienced Louisville veterinarian.
Dr. Pat Turns: Dr. Turns attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, graduating in 1985, then served 5 years as an officer in the United States Army. After serving in the Army, it was Dr. Turns deep love of animals that led him to the decision to attend Purdue University and become a Veterinarian. After his graduation in 1995, Dr. Turns practiced 7 years in Southern Indiana as a small and large animal veterinarian. He then moved to Louisville to a small animal practice for 2 years prior to joining Doerr Animal Clinic in 2004. He became a partner with Dr. Doerr in 2007 and purchased the entire practice in 2011. Dr. Turns lives at home with his wife and 2 children, along with their menagerie of rescued dogs and cats.
Dr. Rachel Cohn: Dr. Rachel Cohn grew up right around the corner from Doerr Animal Clinic. She graduated from DuPont Manual High School in 2003 and then obtained her undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio with a major in Chemistry and minor in Biology. She then attended Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2010. Since graduation she has been practicing small animal medicine in Louisville, KY and Southern Indiana and is happy to finally be back practicing close to home. Her special interests include cardiology, ophthalmology, and ultrasound. In her free time, Dr. Cohn can be found spending time in the Highlands with her husband Joey, son Elijah, and hound dog Pine (Cohn).

Clinic Greeter's (Our Cats):
Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower:
Dwight and Mamie came to us in 2014. They had been abandoned and were brought to us in hopes we could find a home for them. We immediately fell in love with them and decided to make them a part of our family. Dwight and Mamie are always at the door to greet our clients and their pets. They love to rub against the smaller dogs, walk under the large ones, and will frequently try and sneak their way into an empty cat carrier only to surprise the client when they put their own cat back inside. They always keep us entertained!
We are proud to provide a state-of-the-art facility for the highest quality veterinary care available. We are confident that you will feel right at home in our office as we welcome all patients as if they were family.
If you would like to make an appointment, please contact our office by phone. Our office facilitates communications and our phone is answered 24 hours a day. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. A doctor is available by phone after hours for emergency calls and will help you decide whether or not your pet needs to be sent to an emergency facility that we recommend. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come to the hospital immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency.
If you are unable to keep an appointment, we ask that you kindly provide us with at least 24 hours notice. We ask for this advance notice so that we can offer this appointment to another patient.
We will do everything we can to help you afford the treatment your pet needs. Doerr Animal Clinic accepts payment via cash, check, and major credit cards.
